To overcome the situation, a growing number of webinars and virtual events are being hosted, to provide industry participants with networking opportunities. Keeping in line with the trend, India International Hospitality Expo recently organised a webinar named, ‘A Crisis Opens New Windows of Opportunity: Keeping the House in Order Post-COVID-19’, which was moderated by Rakesh Kumar, Chairman, India Exposition Mart Ltd. and Sourish Bhattacharyya, Food Columnist, Mail Today and Curator, IHE Hotel Awards 2020 .

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) recently conducted second batch of the Fire Marshals Training programme for hotels and restaurants in the city. The training activity was held at the Mumbai Fire Brigade headquarters in Byculla and was conducted under the supervision of the Mumbai Fire Chief & Director - Directorate of Maharashtra Fire Services – Dr. Prabhat Rahangdale and team. More than 118 employees from several hotels and restaurants across the city received training on the different aspects of fire safety.

The protocol provides corporations and hoteliers with a well-defined standard at a time when property hygiene is the leading factor of revival. Hotels earning the designation as a safe property, gain access to a new label for use in HRS procurement and booking channels, their own corporate website, and on-property displays at entrances, lobbies and in-room marketing. HRS will display this label on its proprietary desktop, mobile and agent booking solutions, as well as, on corporate online booking engines (OBEs) such as Concur and Cytric.

As per reports, South Asia’s most popular hospitality event, Hotel Investment Conference – South Asia (HICSA), which was earlier scheduled to be held on the 1st and 2nd of April 2020, will now occur on the 22nd and 23rd of July 2020.
