By Ar. Love Choudhary, Founder, AND Studio

Architecture is the epitome of the brilliance that is produced with the careful culmination of art and technicality. Architectural design is essentially determined by the comprehensively imaginative control of mass, space, volume, surface, light, shadow, materials, program, and realistic components, viz., cost, development, and innovation, to accomplish an end product which is aesthetic, utilitarian and often artistic. This distinguishes architecture from engineering design, which is typically determined principally by the creative utilization of numerical and scientific principles. The manifestation of the exemplary nature of design is often quantified with the balance of spaces and valued the utmost at And Studio.

The hospitality sector in its entirety consists of a broad category of fields within the service industry. As globalization tends to reach its pinnacle, more and more restaurants are placing their stalwart into the hospitality sector. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the millennial approach today is to strive for an eatery that not only serves appetizing food but also contrives an experience worth savoring. To envisage the perfect hospitality ambiance, the designers outline a superlative design that can put the customers at ease while they have an exclusive dining experience. The project Garage Inc. from And Studio is a modern style café located in Colaba, Mumbai. It has been designed by refurbishing an existing heritage site. There we tried to present a café that is in sync with the fabric of the whole city in its raw, archaic and rustic feel. The ambiance speaks volumes about the café being a relaxing space. The café has a certain industrial feel attached to its design.

The real estate sector, on the contrary, is one of the most globally recognized genres of architecture. The overall architecture in the real-estate projects however significantly differs from hospitality projects. While architects give momentousness to design (the interactive space), décor and the flexibility of the space, the visualization of a residential space is confidently termed as a reflection of the patron's preferences. Space is also influenced by a plethora of technical factors such as climatology, physiological aspects of a site, geographical locations, demographics of neighbouring sites, requirements of the user and availability of materials to name a few. An architect's point of view changes depending upon the project in hand. It is the architect's responsibility to outline a concept to create a wholesome space while always keeping in view the needs of target customers. The patron's choice is affected by not just what is on the menu but also by the mood and character infused into the restaurant by a befitting theme. The architect holds the liability to build intricately designed spaces, blend to create a realm of comfort and ensure a sense of tranquility. Thus, it is a prerequisite for an architect to strategize the design process and establish pioneering ventures into the world of a new era of architecture.

(Architecture and Design Studio is a progressive architectural practice with branches spread across New Delhi, Milan and Vicenza serving an ever-expanding clientele.
