The Sands Resorts Macao, the integrated resort operator of Macau, will be elevating their suites offering for guests with the opening of the Grand Suites Tower in the Four Seasons Hotel Macao early next year.  The company has already completed comprehensive renovation of all the 3000 suites in Venetian Macao and added new suite category in Parisian Macao recently.

“Grand Suites Tower will come online early next year.  With this we will have the best suites offerings to our customers in the whole of Hong Kong, Macau and Southern China region,” informed Stephanie Tanpure, Vice President – Sales, Sands Resorts Macao during an interaction with TravelBiz Monitor in Delhi recently.

Moreover, Sands Resorts Macao will also start rolling out some of the signature F&B products of the much-anticipated Londoner Macao, the London-themed resort, from Quarter 1 and 2 of next year, she said, while the grand opening will happen in 2021 as per the schedule announced already.

Commenting on the India market, Tanpure said that Sands Resorts is highly popular with Indian visitors to Macau to the extend that Sands Resorts comes first in their minds than the destination.  “More than 70% of the Indian travellers coming to Macau end up at Sands Resorts,” she said citing the popularity of the integrated resort destination for its diverse of accommodation facilities, entertainment, food & beverage venues, etc.

Over a lakh Indians visited Macau last year. In terms of growth, she said that there has been around 4% growth in Indian arrivals to Macau in the first six months of 2019.  On the connectivity front, Tanpure said that the advent of Low-cost carriers like Scoot, IndiGo, etc. is helping them to tap Tier II and III markets like Varanasi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bangalore, etc.   “Our all-suite products are quite popular with Indian family travellers,” she added. The destination is also quite popular with corporate events and conferences as well as honeymooners, she added.

On the marketing front, the two IFFA awards Macau played host to had popularised the destination, she informed.  Because of the popularity of Bollywood and TV serials in India, she said that celebrity marketing is a key strategy in India.

When asked about the recent civic unrest in Hong Kong and its impact on arrivals to Macau, she said that a lot of MICE events have started relocating to Macau in recent months because of the issues in Hong Kong.  “The bridge that opened last year done wonders for Macau.  It’s almost like a direct connectivity,” she stated.
