Across the world, Concept bars are mushrooming up, with
unique offerings. Such concept bars have gradually made
their way to Mumbai, and one of them which has recently
opened in Saki Naka is The Bigg Small Café + Bar.
Hospitality Biz met Vinayak Patil, Corporate Chef of the restaurant
to know more about their offerings.
From the team of Shiv Sagar Restaurant
and Butterfly High (BKC), this newly
launched café and bar located at a walking
distance from both Saki Naka and Marol
metro station targets the corporates
around the locality.
Helmed by Executive Chef Vinayak
Patil who has over 15 years of experience
with well-known names such as Butterfly
High and Shiv Sagar, The Bigg Small Café
+ Bar uses the finest of local produce &
ingredients across categories to provide
soulful food. The restaurant not only
specializes in recreating popular Indian
dishes but also prides itself on giving
them a modern touch with their unrivaled
cooking techniques. Some of their
signature offerings that you must have,
include BIGG Quarters, enormous Sangria
and Cocktail pitchers. The restaurant also
boasts of an extensive shots menu along
with crowd favorites such as Sri Lankan
Hopper, Ghee Roast Pita Pockets, Wild
Mushroom & Truffle Oil Flat Bread to name a few.
While serving food made from locally sourced ingredients, Patil
added, "We support local artisans and farmers with what we serve
and curate menus for guests who have a global perspective. On the
other hand, The Bigg Small is all about doing things differently and
we are aiming to set a new trend in the food and beverage industry by
introducing fusion twist to a lot of Indian dishes. Two of our favorites,
Kolhapuri chicken nuggets, and Ghee Roast Paneer Pita Pockets are
among the indo-western fusion dishes which we introduced here"
added Patil.
In between our conversations, Chef offered us the impressive and
fresh Habibi Platter which includes hummus, muhammara, served
with fattoush salad and Tzatziki Sauce
with freshly baked pita bread. We rounded
off our meal with the heavenly Freak Shake
which was loaded with peanut butter with
whipped cream and a giant doughnut.
Nikita Poojari, Owner and Pawan
Shahri, Managing Partner of the Bigg Small
Café + Bar said, "At the Bigg Small Café
+ Bar, we understand the need to take a
break and ensure that everyone who walks
in our door leaves feeling invigorated and
revitalized. By combining the comforting
ambience with our own take on Modern
Indian, Asian and European cuisines,
we intend to provide an ethereal bar and
food experience for our customers. With
a large portion of drinks and small plates
of appetizers at an affordable price to suit
everyone's after-hours needs, our goal is to
become the one-stop escape place for this
city that never sleeps."
Chef Patil informed us that due to
guest requests, they are also planning to
introduce lunch thali as well. The USP of
the café is that the mind-blowing deals are one of a kind here, such
as six drinks at the price of five and nibble platters for INR 700. The
drinks are offered as 180 ml and 30 ml pegs, which can be enjoyed
along with the delicious and affordable platters.
