Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has proposed an Empowered Tourism Board for India in the line of Brand USA and VisitBritain, to provide an aligned approach to Tourism strategies of India between the government and the private industry in the country.

The proposal was put forth by Dipak Haksar, Chairman, CII National Tourism Committee, in his welcome address at the 15th Tourism Summit organised by CII in Delhi.

Haksar said that Indian tourism needs to have a dedicated strategy to attract Chinese travellers. CII will be designing a road map soon and submitting it to the government, he said.

He also informed that tourism industry should strive to communicate the recent initiatives of the government to promote tourism like reduction in GST, e-visa fee reduction, opening of additional peaks for adventure tourism etc to the outside world.
