The outbreak of Coronavirus has shaken the global hospitality industry. Most of the industry events are either being cancelled or postponed. As per reports, South Asia’s most popular hospitality event, Hotel Investment Conference – South Asia (HICSA), which was earlier scheduled to be held on the 1st and 2nd of April 2020, will now occur on the 22nd and 23rd of July 2020.
Manav Thadani, Chairperson of HICSA Conference in a statement said, “The evolving dynamics of the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has made all of us deeply concerned. It is in this context, that we at Hotelivate have, after much thought and deliberation with other industry leaders, decided to postpone HICSA 2020 to July 22nd and July 23rd. The venue, for now, shall remain the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. We are extremely disappointed in making this announcement; however, we have been closely monitoring this continually developing situation and believe that this decision should be made in a clear and timely manner.”
Not only HICSA, but The International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) in Berlin has also been postponed, amid growing concerns over coronavirus. The event, which was due to take place next week, will now occur on May 4-6, 2020 at the InterContinental and Pullman hotels in Berlin.
