HPMF extends career support to laid-off hospitality professionals through ‘HPMF Hope’ initiative

Asmita Mukherjee | Hyderabad

Due to Covid19, the hospitality industry specifically has come to a grinding halt and is staring at serious financial challenges. Hospitality Purchasing Manager’s Forum (HPMF) has come forward to help the industry fraternity who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

The forum has decided to hold the hands of all such Hospitality Supply Chain Professionals and help them to get back to work. To extend their help to the distressed fraternity, families and community, HPMF has announced an initiative called the “HPMF Initiative”.

While speaking about the concept behind this initiative, Nitin Nagrale said, “HPMF Hope is built on the sole objective of helping the unfortunate friends from fraternity who lost their jobs in this deadly pandemic. Extending help also connects us to others, creates stronger communities and helps to build a happier society for everyone. In HPMF HOPE, it’s not all about money, but about mental support and motivation which is extremely important at this moment. We believe we can connect this pool of skilled professionals to potential employers by giving our time, ideas and energy. Holding hands at the right time is more important than just thinking about it and not doing anything”.

The HPMF HOPE initiative is extending help through a task force, fundraising drive and a 24x7 help desk.

HPMF Hope Task Force: A dedicated team of 14 fraternity members have been identified from India and Nepal in assisting team members who have lost jobs. The team will be lead by Rajesh Nair, President HPMF Kerala, and Materials Manager of Grand Hyatt Kochi. The agenda of the team will be to share job-related links, portals etc. which will be helpful in the job hunt. Secondly, this team will share the contact details of placement agents, consultants, job recruiters, NGOs, and government sites for jobs. The team will also assist in alternative career options, entrepreneurship recommendations, identification of easy bank loans. Lastly, they will also approach the Indian Supply Partners to promote employment via Make in India strategy.

HPMF Hope Fund Raising Drive: Through this initiative, HPMF will approach all possible donors to donate funds which can be legally provided to unemployed fraternity members towards the ration for their families for a short time.

HPMF Hope Helpline No: A 24 x 7 Help desk and Counselling Cell is also being set up by the forum, which will be headed by Dr Sanjay Goyal. This desk will always keep the fraternity members motivated and informed.

The forum also said that, it is urging other HPMF Members, who still have their jobs, to not apply for any new openings and that the preferences must be given to the colleagues who have unfortunately lost their jobs.
