Hospitality focused SkillTech startup, Encovate is organising EDGE 2021, which is a first of its kind event, catering to the hospitality students across all academic years in hotel management colleges/vocational institutes, helping them come up to speed with knowledge, practices, and skills required currently and in the future, keeping the post-pandemic hurdles in mind. The event has been designed by industry experts, academicians, and students themselves, truly bridging the industry-academic gap through multiple interactive sessions, competitions for students, and knowledge nuggets.
Speaking about the idea behind organising the event, Subhra Banerjee, Founder, Encovate said, “In our numerous conversations with students from different hotel management schools over the last couple of months, we realised few glaring differences as compared to conversations in pre-covid times. We observed a lacunae of social skills and professional etiquette amongst most of the students. This has primarily occurred as they have not been able to have industry exposure or coordination in a physical environment due to the pandemic.
That’s where the idea of EDGE came by. An initiative by Encovate, EDGE 2021 is a blended event for hospitality students to have an overview of the functioning of a hotel and the best practices, awareness of skills, and professional etiquette followed in the post-pandemic hospitality world.”
EDGE 2021 has quite a few firsts such as truly bridging the industry-academic gap by being a collaborative event bringing together industry leaders, academicians, and the students themselves. Another key aspect of the event is that it is a blended format where students get lifetime access to pre-event courses, and upon successful completion get access to the 3-day LIVE sessions slated on 12-14 Aug 2021 at 5-8 PM. It also has the distinction of offering a range of discussion topics and the courses have been thought through for bringing maximum relevance to future hospitality professionals. The event also boasts of interactive formats which would encourage students to connect with industry experts, and the event is also offering an opportunity for students to participate and earn e-certificate & awards.
Banerjee also informed that EDGE 2021 is being supported by Indian women in Hospitality, a not-for-profit fastest growing community of women leaders, academicians, and industry experts. At times when the hospitality industry is facing global challenges, these kinds of events are the need of the hour, “I believe it is the need of the hour to share knowledge, experience, and learnings to rise as an industry faster EDGE 2021 is our commitment to all students and young professionals to come up to speed with the changes in the industry and contribute effectively in the recovery path,” Banerjee added. “We are on a mission to upskill the next 10 million hospitality professionals,” she concluded. |
