Aubrei Elite brings highly acclaimed Butler Training Program to India

Asmita Mukherjee | Hyderabad

Aubrei Elite The Spirit of Service, Switzerland in association with Exceeding Expectations UK recently launched a 2-week Butler Training Program in Mumbai for a total of 27 students with hospitality backgrounds. The course is called Butler Role Course and is endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality UK, a charity organisation which supports hospitality world-wide and has been around for over 80 Years.
The differentiating factor in this initiative is that Aubrei Elite will be sponsoring one male and one female needy candidate from a hospitality background. Industry stalwarts Prem Anand and Robin Stuart with decades of experience and having managed some of the sought-after elite residences, estates, and their staff will be the Directors of this course. Robin Stuart will be sharing insights in this course gathered from delivered training to the staff of some of the world’s most exclusive hotels and resorts including, Sugar Beach St Lucia, Grand Hyatt Tokyo, and Jewel Resorts Jamaica, along with private clients in PR China, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia & Singapore.

Commenting on the launch of this niche course in India, Prem Anand, Course Director,  Aubrei Elite, said that recently when he was visiting India he got a call from a HR person from a very well-known five-star hotel, asking for his help to arrange professional butlers. This conversation with the HR person planted the seeds of thought in Anand to bring the highly acclaimed course to India.  Anand also mentioned the reality of the demand and supply gap of professional butlers in the Indian hospitality industry, prompting him to give something back to the Indian hospitality industry by introducing his course to the next generation of butlers.

Anand added that the candidates will be counselled during the course period by two tutors who once upon a time have been in their shoes and possess decades of experience. “This course will give clarity to candidates to get what they want; we teach what the Institute of Hotel Management does not teach them, and we have made this course bespoke for them to get ahead in their career. People who attend this course also can become a freelance Butler (self-employed position) who can be available for five-star hotels requiring a high-end staff, or high-end event companies or they can be available for private events for families to help with their house parties, etc.”

Anand also added that since there is a gap in the industry for professionals they are providing on-site training for butlers in five-star hotels, and household managers, butlers working in affluent homes.

The course which will also teach and train the candidates on various soft skills such as values, characters, along with the skill sets needed to be honed to become successful and stand out, is scheduled to be delivered from July 18 to July 29 July at Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai. To enrol for the course candidates have to fill in a form, which will be sent to them once they express interest, through email. Upon receipt of the filled-in application form, candidates will have a verbal interview with the course director. Once both the directors and the candidate agree to the norms and conditions, the candidate needs to sign a consent form, and complete the payment formalities through a secure link, post which the process is finished.

While speaking about the placements opportunities associated with the course, Anand said that both the directors have several contacts which they earned through their years of experience which they will leverage to personally help the students to get the initial ball rolling.

A webinar is also being organised on June 18 at 2.30 pm IST for the candidates or those who are willing to enroll for the course so they can have a feel of what this course is all about. They can also get a 30-minute non-verbal communication course for free. The 11 day course fee is INR 1,50,000 inclusive tax. The sponsored candidates must be from a hospitality background with applications being done before June 25, and the final course admission decision will be announced by June 30.

While describing the course, Anand said, “The agenda is to provide quality staff to the leading five-star hotels, events, and elite classes by training deserving candidates. The course has been happening in its original version for the last ten years around the world and the demand has exceeded our expectations. Now it is being launched in Mumbai with various other integrated elements such as integrated personal development, and aspects to take it into household employment etc. We are intending to take it to other cities soon.”

Emphasizing the importance of freelance butlers in the United States and Europe, he said that it has been an emerging vocation in the last few years. “This course will also help people who are already associated with the hospitality industry to get refined, to become mindful, to get better, and to reset them. For the students of hospitality, the latter part of the course will give clarity to set themselves up to start and get into a higher gear as quickly as possible.”
