IIHM Kolkata hosts first Young Chef Olympiad

International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) Kolkata organised first Young Chef Olympiad (YCO) in their campus recently. Young chefs from 15 countries participated in the two-day event. Ashwin Nicholos Oon, Team Malaysia, won the Young Chef Olympiad 2015 which had representation from countries like USA, Spain, France, Switzerland, China, Thailand, Myanmar, Kenya, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

Holiday Inn New Delhi Mayur Vihar adopts Shelter Home as part of Clean India mission

Holiday Inn New Delhi Mayur Vihar adopted ‘Rain Basera’, a Shelter Home, and Children’s Park near the hotel, pledging to clean and maintain it throughout the year. As a part of the campaign, the employees of the hotel launched a cleanliness drive at both these places recently. 70 employees participated in the cleanliness drive. They will impart training sessions on hygiene for the people who are staying at the night shelter and children of adjacent local villages in the year-long drive.

Master-class by Chef Kunal Kapur @ New Zealand High Commission

Richard White, Trade Commissioner, Trade and Enterprise, New Zealand and AVANZA hosted a masterclass conducted by celebrity Chef Kunal Kapur at the New Zealand High Commission in Chanakyapuri. Chef Kunal concluded the masterclass by preparing the classic Litti with an Avocado Chokha and traditional Namak Para paired with an Avocado dip.

National Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Education by NCHMCT

National Council of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) recognized outstanding academic performance by students and excellence in hospitality education by teachers of the hotel management institutes affiliated to National Council at the annual National Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Education. Dr Mahesh Sharma, Minister of Tourism & Culture gave away the awards at a function held in Delhi recently.

Celebration of Year of Food & Drinks by VisitScotland

VisitScotland and Qatar Airways launched the Year of Food & Drink 2015 at an event at the Ta jMahal Hotel New Delhi on January 30, 2015, with a cookery demonstration by renowned Scottish Chef Tom Lewi, of Mhor Enterprises and India’s only certified whisky ambassador, Sandeep Aurora. Cooking up a storm, Chef Tom prepared a range of Scottish dishes for attendees at the event.

BCIHMCT students join IHG’s Swacch Bharat initiative

Students of Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BCIHMCT) joined the InterContinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) Clean India drive by participating in Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla’s efforts to clean the surroundings of the hotel. The institute is part of ‘Excellence in Education’ by IHG Academy.

Indian Hospitality Congress (IHC) annual conference at DY Patil University Mumbai

Indian Hospitality Congress (IHC), an organisation of the tourism and hospitality academia in the country, organised their sixth annual conference at DY Patil University School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies (DYPSHTS), Mumbai, between 5 and 6, February, 2015. The theme of the conference was ‘Prospects & Challenges faced by the Hospitality Industry towards their role in the Tourism growth’.
