Pernod Ricard, a prominent French beverage company, and the Maharashtra government have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to invest in a malt distillery in Nagpur recently.
This malt distillery is projected to be India’s largest, with a daily capacity of 60,000 liters. Pernod executives have stated that it will be the largest among the company’s facilities in Asia and potentially the largest in the continent for the industry.
Over a period of ten years, the company plans to invest Rs 1,785 crore in this facility. The construction is expected to take more than two years to complete, after which the spirits will begin to mature. Furthermore, the establishment of the new distillery is anticipated to lead to a significant increase in excise revenue collection.
