In a bid to empower local hospitality businesses and promote sustainable tourism, OYO has partnered with the Goa Tourism Department to launch a new Accelerator Program. Designed to support small-scale and first-generation hotel owners, the initiative aims to drive business growth, create jobs, and boost Goa’s tourism ecosystem.
Goa’s Tourism Minister, Rohan A. Khaunte, unveiled the program during a launch event in Panaji, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering local entrepreneurship and strengthening the state’s hospitality sector.
The Accelerator Program plans to onboard over 300 properties across North, Central, and South Goa in the next year, generating more than 5,000 jobs statewide. As a symbolic start, five beneficiaries from Panjim, Calangute, and Madgaon received financial assistance amounting to Rs. 25 lakh during the launch ceremony.
Participants in the program will benefit from:
- Mentorship and Guidance: Tailored support for first-time hoteliers to enhance their operations.
- Financial Assistance: Funding to help hotel owners improve and expand their properties.
- Access to OYO’s Network: Connection to over 15,000 corporate clients and 10,000 travel agents.
- Advanced Pricing Tools: Innovative solutions to optimize profitability and attract a broader customer base.
Minister Khaunte underscored the importance of sustainable tourism for Goa’s future, highlighting the program as a significant step towards balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility. “This partnership reflects our focus on empowering local entrepreneurs while ensuring long-term benefits for the state’s economy and tourism sector,” he said.
The collaboration between OYO and the Goa Tourism Department is expected to enhance the competitiveness of small-scale hoteliers while creating job opportunities and fostering community-driven tourism. With this initiative, Goa is poised to set an example of how public-private partnerships can promote sustainable growth in the hospitality industry.
