During its 10th anniversary celebration on 31st August 2024, the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) announced the launch of a transformative initiative aimed at skilling and placing 150 women in the tourism and hospitality sector. This ambitious plan has now been implemented, with the first batch of 50 candidates having started their training in January 2025.

The program, designed to enhance employability and provide sustainable career paths for women, is a testament to THSC’s unwavering dedication to bridging the gender gap in one of India’s most dynamic sectors.

The tourism and hospitality industry has long been recognized for its potential to drive economic growth and provide meaningful employment opportunities. However, the participation of women in this sector remains underrepresented. Through this initiative, THSC aims to address these challenges by offering targeted training programs that not only meet the industry’s demands but also empower women to thrive in professional environments.

The comprehensive training program covers job roles such as Guest Service Associate – Housekeeping, Front Office and Food & Beverages. By equipping women with these essential skills, the program aims to enhance their confidence and prepare them for immediate placement in reputed organizations within the sector. The curriculum is designed with inputs from industry experts, ensuring that candidates are job-ready and aligned with current market trends.

“This initiative underscores our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment,” said Mr. Rajan bahadur, CEO of THSC. “It reflects our vision to transform the lives of women through skill development and economic independence. By equipping women with the right skills, we’re not just creating jobs but also shaping leaders for tomorrow.”

Beyond technical skills, the program places a strong emphasis on soft skills development. Training sessions include modules on effective communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and workplace etiquette. These components are critical for women to excel in their roles and advance in their careers, ensuring a holistic approach to their professional growth.

Since its inception, THSC has been at the forefront of skill development, setting benchmarks in training, certification, and placement. Over the last ten years, the organization has built robust partnerships with industry leaders and stakeholders, creating a network that facilitates employment opportunities for thousands of skilled professionals across India. These partnerships ensure that trained candidates not only acquire skills but also find meaningful employment, bridging the gap between education and industry requirements.

The success of the first batch is expected to serve as a blueprint for expanding this program further. With 100 more candidates slated to join subsequent batches, THSC aims to create a ripple effect that will inspire more women to join the workforce and contribute to the growth of the tourism and hospitality sector. The program’s scalability highlights its potential to be a game-changer in the industry, fostering an environment where women can thrive and lead.

In addition to this initiative, THSC plans to introduce mentorship opportunities where industry veterans will guide and support the participants, helping them navigate their career paths effectively. Such measures ensure that the program’s impact extends beyond training and placements, fostering a community of skilled and confident professionals.

As THSC steps into its next decade, initiatives like this reflect its resolve to build a skilled and inclusive workforce that can propel the industry to new heights. The journey of these 150 women is not just a story of individual transformation but a testament to the power of skill development in shaping a brighter, more equitable future. With a clear vision and unwavering commitment, THSC with the wholehearted support of its board, continues to lead the charge in creating meaningful change through skill empowerment
