In a pioneering move, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has unveiled ‘The Metrostay’, a pod-style hotel inside the New Delhi Metro Station, offering travelers affordable, tech-enabled accommodation starting at just Rs 400 per night.
Strategically located near the Airport Express Line and New Delhi Railway Station, The Metrostay is designed for commuters and travelers in transit who seek convenience without compromising comfort.
The facility features clean, dormitory-style rooms with cozy bunk beds and digital lockers. There are separate dorms and washrooms for women, ensuring privacy and safety. Guests can also access a co-working zone, indoor games like carrom, and an open mini-theatre screening live matches and movies.
“This pod hotel began operations in January,” said Altamash, store manager at Metrostay. “We have around 150 beds. Bookings can be made on Goibibo or via walk-ins. Facilities include a lounge, game zone, theatre, and we’re soon launching private rooms as well.”
The response from travelers has been overwhelmingly positive. Sachin, a frequent visitor to Delhi, praised the concept: “This is the best dorm stay I’ve experienced—affordable, spacious, and smartly designed. Self-check-in and a co-working space make it ideal for professionals.”
Adarsh Kumar, a lawyer, added, “It’s clean, well-managed, and saves me from the hassle of relying on friends or relatives. I’d give it an 8 or 9 out of 10. The thoughtful touches—charging points, water bottle holders, and games—enhance the experience.”
