Action follows city-wide food safety inspections ahead of Durga Puja The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has suspended the FSSAI licences of 40 restaurants, eateries and sweet shops following inspections that flagged poor hygiene standards, use of artificial ingredients and licensing irregularities. The action was taken after KMC conducted inspections at 592 commercial food establishments, including hotels, restaurants, markets, malls and social clubs, during Food Safety Week from September 1 to 7. The establishments facing action include outlets of several prominent brands and food businesses.
