The Oberoi Group will continue managing Wildflower Hall hotel for three more months under an agreement with the Himachal Pradesh government. This temporary extension comes after the Supreme Court ruled that East India Hotels (EIH) must hand over the property to the state by March 2025.
The government has informed the Himachal Pradesh High Court of this arrangement, which aims to prevent revenue loss while the state prepares to lease out the five-star property. Officials confirmed that a consultant has been appointed to draft bidding documents for the leasing process.
The legal battle over Wildflower Hall, which has lasted over two decades, ended with the Supreme Court upholding a high court order directing EIH to vacate the property. The Himachal Pradesh government had initially taken control of the hotel after a high court ruling on November 17, 2023. However, the court later stayed its order following an appeal by EIH, allowing the company to continue operations temporarily.
The Supreme Court’s final decision in February 2024 required EIH to surrender the property by March 2025. With this three-month extension, Oberoi Group will oversee operations until the state finalizes new lease agreements.
