The recent wedding season, spanning November 2024 to January 2025, has sparked a remarkable 37% surge in demand for travel and hospitality jobs, according to a report by leading job portal Indeed. This increase highlights the vital role of weddings in shaping workforce trends within the hospitality industry.
The booming wedding market has fueled significant demand for roles such as resort managers, banquet coordinators, hotel staff, travel agents, and decorators. Wedding planners experienced the highest surge, with jobseeker interest increasing by an impressive 70%. Other key positions that saw notable growth include resort managers (57%), hotel managers (52%), and travel agents (16%).
As destination weddings and large-scale celebrations continue to grow in popularity, hotels and resorts are emerging as the focal point for creating unforgettable guest experiences. This trend has led to increased recruitment of skilled professionals to manage events, enhance service standards, and deliver seamless hospitality.
“The wedding industry is booming, and so is the demand for skilled professionals to support it,” said Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India. “Couples are increasingly seeking professional help to create their dream celebrations, translating into exciting career opportunities within the travel and hospitality sector.”
However, not all roles benefited equally. Positions such as event staff and specialist tour managers witnessed a decline in interest, with decreases of 37% and 3.3%, respectively.
This surge in demand underscores the growing importance of weddings as a driver for the hospitality sector. For hoteliers and event planners, the season represents an opportunity to maximize revenue, refine service offerings, and attract top talent to meet the evolving needs of wedding clients.
