Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare formally launched the ‘Trans Fat Free’ logo of FSSAI in Delhi. Food establishments which use trans-fat free fats/oil and do not have industrial trans-fat more than 0.2g/100g of food, in compliance with the Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018 can display ‘Trans fat free’ logo in their outlets and on their food products. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has prohibited the use of packaging material made of recycled plastics including carrybags for packaging, storing, carrying or dispensing food articles. The authority has set a deadline of July 1, 2019, for food businesses to comply with the new regulations that now replace all provisions with respect to packaging requirements prescribed in the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations, 2011. The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) recently concluded its 13th Conclave of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) Food Safety Supervisor Training in Advance Catering in Mumbai. The programmes were conducted at The Emerald Hotel in Juhu and at the Institute of Hotel Management in Dadar respectively on October 10 and 12, respectively.
