With just 60 days to go for this year’s International Chefs Day celebrations, India’s culinary brigade gearing up for a big celebration to bring the smile back to hospitality. #chefstogether is set as the theme to encourage everyone to reconnect and rebuild the human element of hospitality that has gone missing with technology and the pandemic.
“The human connection is crucial in a people’s industry. The damage the last two years has caused is long-lasting. Just by checking up on how your earlier colleagues, bosses, classmates and teachers are doing today brings much needed positivity. The action is so simple; a simple ‘hello’, ‘how are you?’ and ‘Happy Chefs Day’ via a call is all it takes,” says Alan D’Mello, Founder, X Events Hospitality.
October 20th is International Chefs Day. A new website (intlchefday.in) will launch on September 1st to guide the industry on how to celebrate. This year also has an exciting new range of merchandise which chefs or anyone in hospitality can gift or share with their networks such as the ‘Chefs Day’ wrist band, the ‘Chef Heart’ badge and the ‘#chefstogether’ lapel bow.
“We encourage professional cooks and their establishments everywhere to celebrate their day with their teams + local communities. This has been celebrated from 2004 onwards in 100+ countries. Since 2016, with our support, the initiative in India has grown from ~400 chefs to 18,000+. We stayed restrained during the pandemic’s two years, so with everyone’s help, this year, we aim to cross the 50,000+ mark,” added D’Mello.
