Lemon Tree Hotels’ shares rose 1.73% to INR and 135.20 after the company received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Directorate of Tourism, Shillong, to redevelop the Orchid Hotel in Shillong, Meghalaya. The project will be executed under the design, build, finance, operate, and transfer model (DBFOT) as a public-private partnership.
The company plans to designate a special purpose vehicle (SPV) as the concessionaire, potentially in a joint venture, subject to board approval. The redeveloped property will be branded as **Aurika, Shillong**, part of Lemon Tree’s upscale Aurika brand, and is expected to be operational within three years.
The new Aurika, Shillong, will feature approximately 120 rooms, a restaurant, bar, fitness center, banquet facilities, spa, and other amenities, aiming to elevate the hospitality landscape of the region. The concession period for the project spans 45 years, including three years for development.
Patanjali G. Keswani, Chairman and Managing Director of Lemon Tree Hotels, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, *“We are delighted to receive this opportunity to redevelop and operate an iconic property in Shillong. We will align the redevelopment with the upscale standards of our Aurika brand, creating a landmark destination for the city.”*
