Radisson Hotel Group Targets 200 Properties in India by 2027, Eyes Expansion in Tier 3 and 4 Cities

Radisson Hotel Group plans to expand its footprint in India to 200 properties by 2027, with a focus on emerging tourist and business hubs in tier 3 and 4 cities, said Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director and Area Senior Vice President for South Asia.

“There is a lack of quality accommodation in many tier 3 and 4 cities, and we see ourselves playing a major role in bridging that gap,” Sharma shared during a virtual interaction with PTI.

The group, which operates nine brands in India, is set to launch its Park Inn & Suites by Radisson in locations like Thrissur, Bengaluru, and other smaller cities by 2025. Sharma also highlighted Radisson’s diversified portfolio, including boutique hotels rebranded under “Radisson Individuals” and “Radisson Individuals Retreats.”

With over 150 operating hotels projected by next year and consistent growth across its portfolio, Radisson RED and Park Inn & Suites are expected to see accelerated expansion. The group’s soft branding efforts have already led to six Radisson Individuals openings this year, including the rebranding of Nainital’s iconic Manu Maharani hotel.

Sharma emphasized the hospitality sector’s role as India’s second-largest employer, after agriculture. “Every room added creates 10 jobs, and the rapid expansion of the industry will generate huge opportunities,” he stated.

To address manpower shortages, Radisson Hotel Group has signed agreements with the Tourism Ministry and hotel management institutes. The group has adopted four institutes to train students to meet international standards, ensuring they are industry-ready upon graduation.

The expansion aligns with Radisson’s long-term strategy to strengthen its presence in India’s growing hospitality market.
