The second day of the Hotel Investment Conference-South Asia (HICSA) 2025 in Mumbai proved to be a landmark event for Andhra Pradesh (AP) as Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh showcased the state’s potential to global hospitality giants. A strong delegation, including AP Tourism Secretary Ajay Jain and Amrapali Kata, CEO of AP Tourism Authority, engaged with over 45 companies, unlocking new opportunities in the state’s hospitality and tourism sectors.
Singapore-based Ascott Group expressed interest in launching its Citadines hotels across AP’s Tier-II and Tier-III cities, signaling a focus on extended-stay offerings. Accor Hotels, meanwhile, is exploring the potential for its Ibis brand to establish properties in district headquarters, targeting business and leisure travelers in underserved markets.
Brigade Hotels announced plans to invest in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and Horsley Hills, with each location set to host a 150-room property. These investments aim to tap into the state’s growing demand for high-quality accommodations in emerging tourism and business hubs.
Representatives from 15 other hospitality groups, including Belgium’s Corsendonk (wellness resorts), GreenPark Hotels, Fern Hotels & Resorts, USA-based Wildflower Hotels, and Elena Wellness Hotels, also discussed their interest in Andhra Pradesh.
The state’s hospitality appeal lies in its rich cultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and increasing prominence as a business and tourism destination. Minister Kandula Durgesh emphasized, “Andhra Pradesh is uniquely positioned for investors, with robust support from the government, growing infrastructure, and untapped potential in its tourism sector.”
Over two days, the AP team laid the groundwork for strategic collaborations, focusing on investments in wellness resorts, mid-market hotels, and boutique properties. The state’s key destinations, including Vijayawada, Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and religious hubs like Tirupati, were highlighted for their market viability.
Andhra Pradesh’s proactive approach at HICSA 2025 is expected to catalyze a wave of investments, strengthening its hospitality infrastructure and positioning the state as a key player in India’s tourism landscape.
