Tribal youth in Narmada district are poised to receive formal training in the hospitality sector, as India Hotels Company Ltd of the Tata Group establishes a hospitality skill center at Ektanagar, located near the Statue of Unity.
S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister, inaugurated the centre recently. This centre is expected to train 120 youngsters every year. “SOU has become a tourist destination and the visitors also want facilities. It is our responsibility to give facilities and we need people for it. Also, the locals should also feel that they are benefiting from the progress,” Jaishankar said.
The youngsters will be given 12 weeks of training in the classroom and four weeks of field training following which they will be given placements. A number of hotels have come up in Ekta Nagar over the last few years and hence the demand for skilled professionals in the hospitality sector too has gone up.
