Telangana’s hospitality sector is set to benefit from the state’s burgeoning liquor market as 92 liquor companies vie for approval to launch 604 new brands. The Telangana Beverages Corporation Limited (TGBCL), responsible for liquor distribution, recently issued a notification inviting applications from domestic and international suppliers to introduce new Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer brands.
This initiative aims to diversify beverage offerings in Telangana, presenting an opportunity for hotels, resorts, and event venues to cater to evolving consumer preferences. Of the 604 proposed brands, 331 are new IMFL variants, while 273 are foreign liquor labels, ensuring a mix of premium and mid-segment offerings.
Significantly, 47 companies are entering Telangana’s market for the first time, accounting for 386 applications, while 45 existing suppliers propose an additional 218 brands. This influx signals the growing appeal of Telangana as a lucrative market for liquor companies, driven by the state’s expanding urban hospitality landscape and its thriving nightlife and tourism industries.
Prohibition and Excise Commissioner C. Hari Kiran emphasized that all applications will undergo detailed scrutiny to ensure compliance with updated liquor guidelines. Final approvals will determine which brands make it to shelves and menus, providing a wider selection for bars, restaurants, and luxury properties across Telangana.
