Nestled amidst the serene coffee plantations and lush greenery of Coorg, Timbertales Luxury Resort is not just another luxury retreat, it’s an immersive experience that brings together nature, wellness, and world-class hospitality. The brainchild of Prasad GP, Managing Director of Timbertales Coorg, a first-time entrepreneur with a rich career in Telecom and IT, Timbertales is more than a resort—it’s an immersive retreat that connects guests with the serenity of Coorg’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
In an exclusive conversation with Asmita Mukherjee, Prasad shared the vision, challenges, and aspirations behind Timbertales, which took six years of meticulous planning and development to bring to life.
The Vision Behind Timbertales
“Our vision was to create an exclusive destination that offers a one-of-a-kind experience for nature lovers,” says Prasad. “With stunning views, a scenic lake, and architecture that blends seamlessly with the ambience, Timbertales provides an intimate setting for couples and families. It’s about leveraging Coorg’s natural beauty with world-class experiences.”
“Timbertales has everything a nature lover could ask for—stunning views, natural beauty, a scenic lake, and architecture that blends seamlessly with the surroundings. It’s an intimate setting for couples and families alike,” he said.
Timbertales stands apart with offerings designed to immerse guests in the beauty and tranquillity of Coorg. Whether it’s indulging in curated wellness therapies or embarking on bird-watching trails, the resort is a haven for those seeking peace and adventure.
The USP
Timbertales prides itself on delivering bespoke experiences that go beyond the typical luxury offerings in Coorg. The resort features exclusive accommodations like the Forestlight Luxury Villa, designed to provide unparalleled comfort while staying true to the natural surroundings. “Guests can savour pan-to-plate dining at our restaurants, Bamboo Buzz and Twisted Basil, or rejuvenate with wellness therapies curated for relaxation,” Prasad explained.
Adventure seekers are not left out either. “We offer activities like kayaking, bird-watching trails, and nature treks,” Prasad explains. “Our personalised hospitality ensures every guest has a memorable stay. Timbertales isn’t just a resort; it’s an experience that immerses guests in Coorg’s unique charm.”
Design Rooted in Sustainability
The architectural ethos of Timbertales reflects a deep commitment to sustainability. “We’ve integrated luxury and eco-consciousness by using materials like laterite stones and bamboo,” said Prasad. “The existing land profile was preserved during construction, ensuring minimal disruption to the environment.”
This sustainable approach not only enhances the resort’s aesthetic appeal but also reinforces its dedication to promoting eco-friendly practices.
Challenges
Building Timbertales was no small feat. “It took us six years to bring this vision to life,” Prasad recounted. “COVID-19 brought construction to a halt, and incessant rains in subsequent years further delayed progress.”
Despite these setbacks, the determination of the team and contractors helped bring Timbertales to fruition. “Hats off to our contractors who took everything in their stride and worked persistently to deliver what we all can see.,” he said.
A Unique Position in Luxury Hospitality
In a highly competitive luxury hospitality market, Timbertales has carved out a niche by focusing on personalised experiences. “We ensure our guests enjoy top-notch services, from yoga sessions and nature walks to exquisite dining,” Prasad emphasised. “Every aspect of the resort is designed with customer satisfaction in mind.”
This attention to detail has positioned Timbertales as a preferred destination for discerning travellers seeking a blend of comfort, adventure, and luxury.
Future Plans
As a first-time entrepreneur in the hospitality industry, Prasad drew on his extensive experience in telecom and IT to shape his vision for Timbertales. “Both industries are service-oriented, with the customer as the primary focus,” he explained. “Having been on the other side of the fence, I understand what a discerning customer desires and this insight has been invaluable.”
Going ahead, Prasad envisions Timbertales becoming a global name in luxury hospitality. “We want Timbertales to be synonymous with luxury and to establish it as a class apart,” he said. While expansion is on the horizon, the immediate focus remains on enhancing the guest experience at the Coorg property.
“In the next 5–10 years, we see Timbertales Coorg evolving into a globally acknowledged luxury resort with the best value in South India,” Prasad added.
Despite being relatively new, Timbertales Luxury Resort has already set benchmarks for excellence in the industry. With its seamless integration of nature, sustainability, and bespoke experiences, it offers more than just a stay—it provides memories that linger long after the visit.
“Timbertales is our way of showcasing the beauty and culture of Coorg while providing a retreat for those seeking luxury and tranquillity,” said Prasad.
