Mikiamo Limoncello Brings Italian Heritage to Indian Shores

Mikiamo Limoncello: Bringing Italian Heritage to Indian Shores

India welcomed its first-ever limoncello in May 2024 with the launch of Mikiamo Limoncello, introducing a taste of Italy to Indian palates. Known for its roots in Italian aperitivo culture, limoncello has been a long-missed element for Indian cocktail enthusiasts. Mikiamo aims to fill this gap by offering a liqueur crafted with authenticity, tradition, and premium quality.

Mikiamo Limoncello is made using lemons sourced from Italy’s southern coast, famed for their rich zest and vibrant flavor. While the lemon infusion is imported from Italy, bottling is completed in Goa. The result is a bittersweet, citrus-forward liqueur with notes of kaffir lime and lemongrass, offering a smooth and versatile drinking experience.

Unlike imported variants, Mikiamo contains no artificial colors or preservatives and uses up to 50% less sugar, catering to those seeking a more refined, natural taste. High-quality Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) ensures a smooth finish, making the product suitable for various uses—from sipping neat or mixing in cocktails to enhancing desserts like sorbets and gelato.

Initially launched in Goa, Mikiamo has established its presence across 150 retail outlets, supermarkets, and premium establishments, including four- and five-star hotels, restaurants, and cafes. Priced at INR 2,110 for a 750 ml bottle and INR 500 for a compact 180 ml bottle, Mikiamo offers a competitive alternative to imported limoncellos, priced 30–50% lower.

Building on its success in Goa, the brand expanded to Haryana in January 2025 and plans to launch in Karnataka, Punjab, Delhi, and Maharashtra over the next six months. There are also plans for international expansion, marking a promising future for the brand.

Mikiamo Limoncello is the first product by Nuvola Spirits, a venture founded by Aakriti Kochhar Sachdeva, Raghav Sachdeva, and Davide Benaglia. With a vision to create premium liqueurs that blend tradition with innovation, Nuvola Spirits aims to introduce India to a range of authentic global flavors.

“We wanted to bring a true Italian experience to India,” said one of the founders. “With Mikiamo Limoncello, we are not just introducing a product but an entire culture of refined taste and tradition.”

As limoncello enters the Indian market, Mikiamo stands out not only as a beverage but also as a symbol of cross-cultural appreciation, setting the stage for a growing appreciation of international flavors.
