According to The Indian Express,
Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) is making a significant investment in the business, hospitality, and entertainment sectors with plans to develop a two million square feet business park and a 775-room hotel near Kempegowda International Airport, according to Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). The project, guided by principles of sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience, aims to transform Bengaluru Airport City into an eco-friendly urban center.
Established on January 21, 2020, BACL is a wholly owned subsidiary of BIAL, which operates Kempegowda International Airport. In a statement, BIAL described the upcoming biophilic-inspired business park, designed to integrate natural elements into its architecture. This smart workspace will offer a dynamic environment that balances work and play, catering to diverse business and employee needs.
Located in the Urban Forest, a lush green space at the development’s heart, the project will feature blended indoor and outdoor spaces. An upcoming metro station will ensure seamless connectivity to the business park from the north side, enhancing accessibility.
The Combo Hotel, set to be one of India’s largest hospitality establishments, will feature 775 rooms split between Vivanta (450 rooms) and Ginger (325 rooms). The hotel is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, catering to both business travelers and tourists.
Adding to the allure of Airport City is the upcoming Concert Arena, the first of its kind in an airport ecosystem in India. With a capacity of 10,000 attendees, this state-of-the-art venue is slated to open in the next couple of years, offering a new hub for entertainment and cultural gatherings.
Rao Munukutla, CEO of BACL, stated, “This investment by BACL will drive our vision of transforming Airport City into a bustling hub for businesses, knowledge zones, R&D centers, and Global Capability Centres. With world-class infrastructure and a focus on sustainability, our goal is to create a thriving environment that fosters growth, generates job opportunities, and has a positive socio-economic impact on the region.”
