Himachal

The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) to close its loss-making 18 hotels by November 25. The instructions were issued by Justice Ajay Mohan Goel on Tuesday while hearing a petition concerning retired employees of the corporation who have not received their financial benefits.

The court has instructed the HPTDC Managing Director to ensure strict compliance with its orders.

HPTDC operates 56 hotels across the state, many of which have been incurring losses for years. The corporation has struggled with financial challenges, including delays in paying salaries and pensions. Additionally, the issue of service benefits for pensioners remains pending in court, further highlighting the dire state of the corporation’s finances.
