The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) has expressed its appreciation to the Maharashtra government for its efforts in accelerating approvals on various tourism projects across the state. These initiatives, including upcoming properties by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the water tourism project at Gosekhurd in Bhandara, are expected to significantly enhance the tourism potential of Maharashtra.
HRAWI commends the government’s forward-thinking approach and proactive promotional efforts, which are set to create a tourism boom both domestically and internationally. The upcoming destinations are expected to captivate travelers from around the world, making Maharashtra a global tourist hotspot. To support the increasing tourist influx, HRAWI has urged the government to introduce special subsidies to encourage the development of more hotels in the state, thereby boosting tourism and generating revenue.
HRAWI has also acknowledged the valuable suggestions made for the development of Ambhora Temple, the establishment of a Scuba Diving Centre in Koyna Bamnoli, and the beautification projects for Sonegaon Lake in Nagpur and Gajba Devi Temple in Sindhudurg.
The association emphasizes the need to enhance room capacity to meet the rising demand, as Maharashtra currently has around 340,000 rooms. With the number of projects in the pipeline, HRAWI suggests that at least double the capacity of hotel rooms will be required. Subsidies for establishing hotels at specified tourist locations, incentives for eco-friendly hotels, and electricity subsidies are essential to drive the growth of the hospitality sector. Additionally, the tourism and hospitality industry is a significant contributor to employment generation in India, and HRAWI expects these new projects to create more employment opportunities for the workforce.
HRAWI commends the MTDC for organizing the Maharashtra Tourism Stakeholder Video Conference, which focused on the Expression of Interests for the Operations & Maintenance of the newly constructed resorts at Nawegaon Bandh in Gondia and Chandpur in Bhandara.
The association recognizes the unwavering dedication and visionary approach of the Hon’ble Tourism Minister in harnessing the tourism potential of Maharashtra. The initiatives undertaken by the minister have paved the way for economic growth in the state and positioned Maharashtra as a captivating destination. HRAWI expresses its gratitude for the minister’s contributions to the hospitality industry and looks forward to a vibrant future for tourism in Maharashtra.

The initiatives taken under his leadership have opened the doors to a vibrant future, where tourists from all corners of the globe will be captivated by the enchanting wonders of Maharashtra, making it a must-visit destination and, the hospitality industry is grateful for his contributions,” concludesPradeep Shetty, President, HRAWI.
