THSC to Celebrate 10 Years of Shaping the Tourism and Hospitality Workforce

The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) is delighted to announce its 10th Anniversary Celebration, — “A Decade of Excellence, Empowerment, and Employment,” to be held on August 1, 2024, at India Habitat Centre. This milestone event marks a significant chapter in THSC’s journey, showcasing its remarkable achievements and substantial impact on the tourism and hospitality sector over the past decade.

Established in 2014, THSC has been at the forefront of revolutionizing vocational education and skill development in India. Through dedicated efforts, THSC has enrolled over 1.5 million youth and successfully certified over 1.2 million individuals. Its extensive network of more than 1000 institutes, 100+ colleges, and 2000+ industry members has created a robust, industry-aligned skilling ecosystem, fostering collaboration and ensuring that programs meet the evolving needs of the industry.

“As we celebrate a decade of THSC, we are proud of the strides we have made in enhancing the skills and capabilities of individuals within the industry. The resilience of the tourism and hospitality sector post-COVID-19 has been a testament to the strength and dedication of the professionals within it,” said Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO of THSC. “Our efforts have not only empowered youth but also significantly contributed to the tourism and hospitality sector’s growth. In 2022, the industry employed 39 million people, contributing 8% of India’s total employment, and generated US$22 million in forex earnings from January to October 2023. This event is a tribute to our achievements and a commitment to future endeavors.”

The 10th Anniversary Celebration will feature inspiring speeches from industry leaders, showcase success stories, and provide opportunities to network with peers and professionals dedicated to the same cause. It will be a day to honor past achievements and look forward to future initiatives that will continue to drive excellence, empowerment, and employment in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Among the key achievements is the massive enrollment and certification drive that has empowered the next generation of professionals, equipping them with practical skills, adaptability, and creativity. The innovative educational programs have provided youth with the tools they need to excel in their careers. Furthermore, collaborative efforts with government bodies have integrated tourism education into curricula, aligning degree courses with industry needs and ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the challenges of the industry.

The Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), a non-profit organization established in 2014, tackles the challenge of skilling India’s hospitality workforce. Working with government, industry associations, and training institutes, THSC has created a robust skilling ecosystem encompassing all sub-sectors (hotels, tour operators, restaurants, facilities management and cruise liners). As an approved awarding body under NCVET, THSC empowers youth through industry-aligned training and certifications, bridging the skills gap and shaping a future-ready workforce.
