Sheraton Hyderabad Hotel Leads the Way with an All-Electric Fleet as part of its sustainable initiative in the city

Sheraton Hyderabad, a leading five-star hotel in the city, is proud to announce its commitment to sustainability with a range of initiatives that are setting new standards in the industry. As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental impact and promote sustainable practices, Sheraton Hyderabad has implemented several measures to conserve resources, reduce waste, and minimize its carbon footprint.

One of the key highlights of Sheraton Hyderabad’s sustainability efforts is the introduction of an all-electric fleet, making it the only hotel in India to have such a fleet. The hotel has moved on to a fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) for guest transportation and other operational needs, thereby reducing its carbon emissions and contributing to cleaner air in the city. In addition, Sheraton Hyderabad has installed two EV charging stations on its premises, with each station capable of accommodating two cars, exclusively for use by Sheraton guests. This initiative aims to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles among guests, promoting sustainable mobility options.

Sheraton Hyderabad is also taking steps to reduce plastic waste by eliminating the use of plastic bottles in the property. Instead, the hotel has switched to using only glass bottles, and is planning to establish its own hotel bottling plant to further reduce its carbon footprint associated with bottle transportation. This initiative will not only reduce plastic waste, but also promote the use of sustainable packaging materials.

The hotel has also invested in solar panels on its rooftop to harness renewable energy and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. The solar panels generate clean energy, which is used to power various areas of the hotel, contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the impact of climate change.

As part of its commitment to responsible water management, Sheraton Hyderabad has implemented a comprehensive waste water management and rainwater harvesting system. The hotel collects and treats waste water on site, which is then used for gardening and sanitary purposes, reducing the strain on freshwater resources. The rainwater harvesting system helps capture rainwater and recharge the groundwater table, contributing to water conservation in the region.

In addition, Sheraton Hyderabad has installed sensors in public areas such as lights and taps to prevent wastage of water and excess electricity consumption. These sensors automatically control the usage of resources, ensuring efficient utilization and reducing unnecessary consumption, thereby promoting sustainability.

Furthermore, as Sheraton Hyderabad endeavors to uphold Marriott’s commitment to planting 22222 trees on World Earth Day, the hotel’s associates and guests will come together in nurturing the earth with 272 plants, representing the number of keys in the hotel. The vision is for each associate to plant at least one tree and experience the joy of contributing to the conservation of Mother Nature.

“We are proud to be at the forefront of sustainable practices in the hospitality industry,” said Ram Shetty, Hotel Manager of Sheraton Hyderabad. “We believe that sustainability is not just a trend, but a responsible approach towards preserving our planet for future generations. Our sustainable initiatives are a testimony to our commitment towards creating a more sustainable future for our guests, employees, and the community.”
