The sixth edition of the Golden Eye Chef, an international cooking contest exclusively for the blind, is officially underway. Established in 2019, the competition provides a unique platform for blind individuals to showcase their culinary talents and challenge societal misconceptions about their abilities in the kitchen.
This year’s theme, “Healthy Cooking,” emphasizes nutritious dishes that are easy, affordable, and delicious. Chef Rakhi Ganeriwal kicked off the event with a presentation on the immune system and its connection to food, available on the Golden Eye Chef YouTube channel. Chef Nazim Khan from Bryan Health, USA, returns as an expert juror for the third year, offering his expertise in healthy cooking.
The contest invites legally blind individuals aged 18 or older from around the world to participate by submitting cooking videos by October 7, 2024. Participants can choose any language, provided a translation is included for non-English or non-Hindi entries. This entirely online competition is free to enter, aiming to empower blind individuals and reshape public perceptions by showcasing their culinary skills.
