Bengaluru-based Amrut Distilleries has expanded its premium portfolio with the launch of AmrutKranthi, a new Indian single malt whisky positioned as a celebration of India’s growing influence in the global luxury spirits market.
The latest expression from the pioneering Indian single malt producer is bottled at 40% ABV and builds on the company’s legacy of crafting internationally acclaimed whiskies using Indian barley and maturation techniques tailored to India’s climatic conditions.
According to the company, AmrutKranthi is the result of years of research, global benchmarking and expertise in whisky maturation and flavour development. The launch comes at a time when India’s single malt segment is witnessing strong growth, with the category now estimated at nearly 700,000 cases and valued at around ₹1,000 crore.
Commenting on the launch, Rakshit N. Jagdale, Managing Director, Amrut Distilleries, said, “A confident nation cannot rely forever on borrowed symbols of prestige. The next chapter of global luxury will be shaped by Indian brands, Indian craftsmanship and Indian self-belief. With Kranthi, we celebrate a revolution in mindset: the belief that when the world looks for the finest, it can look to India, and to Amrut as a proud flag-bearer of that new era.”
The whisky also pays tribute to the late Neelkanth Rao Jagdale, whose leadership played a key role in establishing Amrut’s reputation in international single malt markets.
Amrut was among the first Indian distillers to challenge the dominance of Scotch in the premium whisky segment, with its flagship Amrut Fusion gaining global recognition and helping bring Indian single malts into the international spotlight.
Named after the Sanskrit word for “revolution” or “awakening”, AmrutKranthi reflects the company’s belief that India is increasingly creating its own benchmarks in premium and luxury categories. The launch further underscores the growing global interest in Indian single malts, a category that continues to benefit from rising domestic consumption and expanding export opportunities.
