India’s food processing and ingredients sector is expanding rapidly at 8.8% CAGR and is projected to double by 2030, with the food-tech segment outpacing global benchmarks at 14% CAGR. The country’s food processing equipment market is expected to touch USD 1.5 billion by 2033, while packaging machinery is set to cross USD 6.6 billion by 2030.
Highlighting the sector’s strength, Seetharaman Raghupathi, Executive Director, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), noted that food processing in India is valued at INR 75 trillion, with dairy alone contributing 25% to the F&B sector. India, the world’s largest milk producer, generates milk worth INR 12 trillion annually, benefiting 17 million farmers across 235,000 villages—35% of them women. Dairy cooperatives, he added, return 75% of the consumer rupee and inject INR2.1 billion daily into the rural economy. Initiatives such as White Revolution 2.0, aiming to establish 75,000 new cooperatives by 2028–29, are expected to accelerate this growth.
These insights were shared at the opening of Anuga FoodTec India and Anuga Select India 2025, inaugurated at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The expos feature over 1,100 exhibitors across 55,000 sqm, with participation from 65 countries and are expected to attract more than 60,000 visitors over three days.
Organized by Koelnmesse India, the events aim to boost South Asia’s F&B growth by driving innovation, enabling international partnerships, and opening new trade and knowledge-exchange opportunities.
