The hospitality industry in Goa has welcomed a significant announcement from the state Budget presented by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. In a move to encourage development in the hinterland, the government has introduced a 50% rebate on state Goods and Services Tax (GST) for investors establishing three-star and above category hotels in the region.
The Budget also includes additional incentives, such as exemptions from stamp duty and registration charges, along with waivers on processing fees for setting up hospitality and medical tourism infrastructure in talukas like Bicholim, Sanguem, Canacona, Quepem, Dharbandora, Ponda, and Sattari.
Industry stakeholders see these measures as a positive step toward diversifying Goa’s tourism offerings beyond its coastal attractions. The incentives aim to promote sustainable development in lesser-explored areas, attracting both domestic and international travelers while generating employment opportunities for local communities.
