J&K Administration Releases Draft Tourist Trade Rules for Hospitality Sector

According to Zieaat Times, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has unveiled draft Tourist Trade Rules, outlining the fees for registration and renewal for hotels, homestays, houseboats, and other hospitality entities. For a five-star deluxe hotel, the renewal fee is set at INR 2 lakh for two years. Fees for other categories range from INR 1.5 lakh for five-star hotels to INR 30,000 for one-star hotels.

Guesthouses, camp hotels, restaurants, and dhabas have lower fees, with guesthouses and camp hotels at INR 20,000 for two years. Houseboat fees vary by category, with deluxe at INR 50,000 and others from INR 40,000 to INR 10,000.

Homestays and travel agents also have specified fees, while houseboat owners have expressed concerns over the increased costs. Yaqoob Dhanoo, former General Secretary of the Kashmir Houseboat Owners Association, called the hike “unbearable” due to limited work and high maintenance costs.
