Summit Hotels Expands in Siliguri and Darjeeling Hills
Summit Hotels & Resorts has strengthened its presence in North Bengal with the signing of two boutique properties in Siliguri and the Darjeeling Hills, reinforcing its focus on experiential hospitality in one of Eastern India’s fastest-growing tourism corridors.
The two properties—Summit Gulma River Resort and Summit Falling Water—are designed as 30-room boutique developments, each rooted in nature-led experiences and intimate hospitality formats. The Siliguri property is scheduled to open on 15 August, while the Darjeeling project is expected to open in early January 2027.
Summit Gulma River Resort Anchors Tea Estate Living
Located in the Gulma area of Siliguri, Summit Gulma River Resort overlooks the scenic Gulma Tea Estate and a flowing river, positioning it as a leisure-driven boutique destination with event potential.
The property will feature a mix of standard and studio-style rooms, including kitchenettes to support extended stays. It will also house an in-house restaurant, bar, spa, gym and a banquet hall designed to host approximately 150 guests, catering to boutique weddings, social gatherings and corporate events within the tea garden belt.
Summit Falling Water Draws from Iconic Design
The second property, Summit Falling Water, will be developed in Rangbull, just a few kilometres before Darjeeling, along the main highway leading to the hill station.
Inspired by the iconic Fallingwater residence designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the hotel integrates architecture with its natural surroundings. Built over a natural water stream, the property will offer 30 rooms with private balconies overlooking the stream and surrounding hills.
A distinctive feature is the presence of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train) track directly in front of the hotel, allowing guests to experience the heritage rail line from within the property.
Nature-Led Experiences Shape Guest Offering
Both properties are designed to emphasise immersive, destination-led experiences. Summit Falling Water will include a restaurant, coffee shop, spa overlooking the stream, gym and ample parking facilities.
Seasonal snowfall in the region is expected to further enhance the appeal of the Darjeeling property, positioning it as an offbeat hill destination for travellers seeking slower, experience-driven stays.
