Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has acquired a 21% stake in Rutland Square Spirits Ltd, a premium Scottish liquor brand renowned for its tea-infused gin. This partnership marks a unique fusion of India’s rich tea heritage and Scotland’s iconic spirit traditions.
Founded by Nishant Sharma, Rutland Square Spirits combines Assam’s celebrated white oolong tea with traditional Scottish distillation methods. The tea is sourced from Assam’s Dibrugarh region, known as the “Tea Capital of the World,” along with neighboring areas like Tinsukia and Sivasagar, which produce nearly half of India’s tea.
As part of this collaboration, Oberoi and Rutland are planning a landmark project in Edinburgh: a net-zero luxury hotel. This eco-friendly retreat will blend heritage, sustainability, and luxury, featuring Scotland’s first Ayurvedic wellness center and Europe’s first hydrogen-powered facilities.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Oberoi said, “This partnership bridges two vibrant cultures and economies. Scotland’s deep-rooted traditions and its strong Indian business community make it the perfect setting for this visionary project. I am excited to help bring this blended experience of Indian heritage and Scottish innovation to life.”
