The 19th edition of the Metro Food Awards was held in Thiruvananthapuram as part of the World Food Day celebrations, organised by Metro Mart in association with the Thiruvananthapuram Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the South Kerala Hoteliers Forum.
The event was inaugurated by Kadakampally Surendran, MLA, and presided over by S. N. Raghuchandran Nair, President of the Thiruvananthapuram Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Awards were presented by Kadakampally Surendran and Celebrity Chef Dr. Lakshmi Nair, while Siji Nair, Managing Director of Metro Mart, delivered the welcome address.
Held annually, the Metro Food Awards honor Kerala’s finest restaurants for excellence in taste, hygiene, and service quality. Winners are selected through a rigorous evaluation process, including culinary assessment, hygiene audits, customer feedback, and mystery dining reviews conducted by a panel of industry experts. This year, over 300 entriesfrom across Kerala competed for recognition.
The event was attended by eminent personalities from Kerala’s hospitality and tourism sectors, including Cherian Philip (Former Chairman, KTDC), M. Khalid (CMD, SLK Food Processing – Happy), Kottukal Krishnakumar (General Secretary, KTDA), Prasad Manjali (Chairman, MFA Jury Committee), Suresh Mathew Nilamel (Vice President, Thiruvananthapuram Chamber), Sisupalan Sagara (Vice President, South Kerala Hoteliers Forum), and Pankaj Senan (Patron, South Kerala Hoteliers Forum).
The 19th edition reaffirmed the Metro Food Awards as a benchmark of culinary and service excellence, celebrating Kerala’s rich and evolving food culture.
