Accor has announced the launch of its premium eco-luxury brand Mantis in India with the signing of Mantis Nagarhole, a wildlife-focused luxury retreat planned near Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka.
Scheduled to open in 2028, the eco-resort will be located near the Nagarhole Tiger Reserve within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The project will feature 31 premium cottages and rooms spread across nearly 13 acres, offering guests immersive wildlife and nature experiences.
The resort will include facilities such as an all-day dining restaurant, bar, spa, gym, swimming pool and outdoor viewing spaces. Guests will also have access to curated activities including guided safaris, nature walks and cultural experiences.
Accor said the project will follow a sustainability-focused development model with emphasis on biodiversity conservation, energy efficiency and community engagement, in line with the Mantis brand philosophy of responsible tourism.
The project is being developed by a South India-based hospitality group led by Hirehal Jairaj Balram, which has interests in hospitality and real estate development across the region.
Ranju Alex said the launch reflects changing travel preferences in India, where travellers are increasingly seeking nature-driven and experience-led tourism. She added that the project aligns with Accor’s strategy to expand in high-value leisure destinations while maintaining strong sustainability commitments.

The Nagarhole region has emerged as a growing eco-tourism destination, attracting both domestic and international travellers looking for premium wildlife and wellness experiences.
Accor currently operates 74 hotels across multiple brands in India, including Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, Pullman, Novoteland ibis.
