As Ahmedabad positions itself to bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympics, Gujarat is gearing up for a major transformation — starting with the hotel sector.
A senior state official confirmed that a new hotel incentives policy is in the works, expected by December or January, to boost infrastructure and meet future demand. The policy will extend beyond current tourism incentives, offering greater benefits for new hotel projects, while also encouraging investment in resorts and recreational facilities.
The move comes amid growing international attention on Gujarat, driven by Vibrant Gujarat Summits, global semiconductor investments in Sanand, and fintech growth at GIFT City. Despite this, Ahmedabad still lags behind smaller cities like Udaipur in hotel capacity — a gap the government is determined to close.
Popular destinations such as Somnath, Dwarka, Gir, and Ambaji are also on the radar, with plans to enhance their appeal for both domestic and international visitors. Consultations with stakeholders are expected to begin soon.
With mega sporting events and global business activity on the horizon, Gujarat is laying the foundation to become a world-class hub for tourism and hospitality.
