Auro Realty, the real estate arm of the Aurobindo Group, has acquired the landmark Hotel Taj Banjara property in Hyderabad for INR 315 crore, according to documents accessed by Propstack. The transaction, completed on October 31, involved a stamp duty payment of INR 17.3 crore.
The asset, owned by Hotel Banjara Ltd., spans 16,645 square yards in the upscale Banjara Hills area—one of Hyderabad’s most premium residential and commercial corridors. The site includes 1.2 lakh sq. ft. of built-up space and has long been a city landmark. Earlier this year, the hotel was temporarily sealed by GHMC over unpaid taxes before reopening after a partial settlement.
Industry reports indicate that Auro Realty is raising up to INR20 billion through a bond issuance to fund strategic acquisitions, including this property. The company has not yet disclosed redevelopment or operational plans for the site.
Banjara Hills continues to remain one of Hyderabad’s most sought-after micro-markets. According to Cushman & Wakefield, property prices in the area rose 8% in early 2025, ranging between INR12,000–INR15,000 per sq. ft. The neighbourhood is known for luxury hotels, high-end residences, premium retail, and major corporate offices.
The acquisition adds to Hyderabad’s strong real estate momentum, following recent large transactions such as Mindspace REIT’s INR512 crore commercial acquisition and Apple India’s continued office space expansion. Auro Realty’s move is expected to play a significant role in the evolving landscape of the city’s premium hospitality and real estate sectors.
