Pudu Robotics has unveiled plans to launch the world’s first hotel operated entirely by robots in 2027, marking a major milestone in the integration of artificial intelligence and automation within the global hospitality industry.
The 44-room hotel will be developed on the West Artificial Island along the Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link in Guangdong Province and will operate without human staff, with robots managing every aspect of hotel operations including reception, check-in, room service, housekeeping, luggage handling, food preparation and guest assistance.
The project is being developed in partnership with Shenzhen Culture & Tourism Industry Development as part of a broader plan to transform the island into a robotics and smart tourism destination. Public trials are scheduled to begin in late 2026, allowing guests to experience robot-powered hospitality services ahead of the official launch.
The hotel will be powered by Pudu’s AI platform, PuduFM 1.0, and PuduAgent, enabling multiple service robots to function through a unified intelligence framework. The system will coordinate specialised robots for reception, autonomous deliveries, luggage transport and AI-driven cleaning within a fully integrated operational ecosystem.
According to Cong Guo, the initiative represents a significant step toward large-scale deployment of embodied artificial intelligence in premium hospitality environments while exploring new service models built around autonomous operations.
Beyond the hotel, the company plans to expand robotic services across the island’s wider tourism infrastructure over the next four years, positioning the destination as a showcase for next-generation hospitality technology.
The development highlights the accelerating adoption of AI and robotics across the global hospitality sector, where automation is increasingly being deployed to improve operational efficiency, enhance guest experiences and address long-term workforce challenges.
