A family dispute has erupted at the heart of one of Mumbai’s most prominent hospitality companies, Graviss Hospitality Ltd, which owns and operates the InterContinental Hotel on Marine Drive.
The feud involves chairman Ravi Ghai and his son Gaurav Ghai, both part of the founding family behind Graviss Group—also known for iconic establishments like Gaylord’s restaurant and the now-shuttered Nataraj Hotel, as well as the original Kwality Ice Creams brand.
At the centre of the disagreement is the ownership and control of Graviss Hospitality, a publicly listed company with a market capitalisation of over ₹300 crore. The discord, now playing out publicly, signals a deeper rift within the Ghai family, which has long been associated with Mumbai’s old-world hospitality charm.
