Hilton, the renowned hospitality brand, has been honored with the prestigious Sustainable Stand Award at the 30th edition of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The independent panel of judges at the exhibition commended Hilton for its environmentally conscious approach in designing its stand, including partnering with a local supplier and prioritizing the repurposing of materials over the next three years.
To further support its commitment to sustainability, Hilton utilized a carbon calculator to measure its environmental impact and implemented measures to mitigate the ecological footprint associated with its catering activities during the event, aligning with the company’s long-term sustainability goals.
The judges also took the opportunity to express their condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Jochem-Jan Sleiffer, Hilton’s former President for the Middle East, Africa, and Türkiye, who tragically passed away the previous week.
The ATM Best Stand Awards panel also acknowledged other exhibitors for their sustainable efforts. The Royal Commission of AlUla was commended for its focus on using sustainable materials in the stand’s design, while Switzerland Tourism received recognition for its “sustainability wall” and adoption of a reusable modular system.
Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, secured the Best Stand Design Award in the category for stands over 150m² for the second consecutive year. The judges were impressed by Saudia’s impactful use of digital screens and reflective flooring, creating a visually stunning experience.
Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. was honored with the Best Stand Design Award in the category for stands under 150m². Inspired by global superstar Rihanna, the design successfully captured the essence of Barbados, incorporating innovative digital screens. Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts received high commendation for its layout and use of recycled materials in this category.
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) was presented with the Best Stand for Doing Business Award, thanks to its impressive three-story exhibition space that offered comfortable seating, a spacious layout, and high-quality hospitality. Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority received a special mention for its effective use of space, reflecting the Emirate’s identity, and featuring an eye-catching powerboat centerpiece.
WebBeds clinched the Best Stand at ATM Travel Tech Award, standing out with its welcoming, functional, and visually appealing design, along with its spacious upstairs meeting area. RateGain’s stand, distinguished by its use of wood, received commendation from the judges among other Travel Tech counterparts.
Visit Maldives was honored with the Best Stand Feature Award for its striking digital floor area, portraying a captivating marine environment teeming with whale sharks and manta rays, effectively showcasing the Indian Ocean destination.
The judging panel for the ATM 2023 Best Stand Awards consisted of esteemed industry professionals, including sustainability experts and executives from prominent organizations. Their meticulous evaluation recognized the innovative approaches to sustainability, functionality, and hospitality demonstrated by this year’s stands.
