Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the opening of Avantika by the Ganges – IHCL SeleQtions in Varanasi, further expanding its presence in one of India’s most significant spiritual destinations.
Commenting on the opening, Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President – New Businesses & Hotel Openings, IHCL, said that Varanasi continues to attract visitors from around the world for its spiritual and cultural importance. She noted that IHCL has established a multi-brand footprint in the city and that the addition of Avantika by the Ganges strengthens the company’s portfolio by offering a property that combines traditional sensibilities with modern amenities.
Located on the banks of the Ganges, the 43-key hotel is situated close to key landmarks such as the Kashi Vishwanathand Kaal Bhairav temples. The rooms and suites are designed around the concept of the five elements and offer views of the river. The property features an all-vegetarian restaurant, Dhanushkoti, which draws inspiration from traditional Varanasi cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. Other facilities include a fitness centre, spa, and salon.
K. Shiva Prasad, Managing Director, Srivaari Chemicals Pvt. Ltd, the owning company of the hotel, said the project was conceived to reflect Varanasi’s spiritual character, adding that partnering with IHCL supports the preservation of heritage while delivering authentic hospitality.
Varanasi, regarded as the spiritual capital of India, is among the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and is known for its ghats along the Ganges, attracting pilgrims, cultural travellers, and history enthusiasts throughout the year.
