Hyderabad, August 2025:
The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition, Hyderabad (IHM-Hyderabad), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has announced the fourth season of its prestigious national-level competition, The Budding Events. The four-day event will take place from September 16 to 19, 2025, at the IHM-Hyderabad campus.
Widely regarded as a premier platform for showcasing the skills of future hospitality leaders, this year’s edition will once again feature two flagship contests – the National Budding Professional Competition and the National Budding Chef Competition. Together, these events are designed to test the creativity, innovation, and technical expertise of final-year B.Sc. H&HA students through a series of challenging and industry-relevant rounds.
The Budding Professional Competition will see participants demonstrate their abilities across diverse segments such as business planning, service recovery, sales strategy, design innovation, and mixology. Meanwhile, the Budding Chef Competition will celebrate culinary excellence with contests focused on continental cuisine, regional Indian specialties, and bakery artistry under the theme “Let the Cake Tell Your Story.”
Institutes from across the country will nominate their best candidates, with top performers earning coveted titles such as Mr. and Ms. Budding Professional, Overall Chef Champions, and Category Chef Champions. Nominations close on September 1, and the entry fee includes both participation and full hospitality for the contestants.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, the organizers at IHM-Hyderabad said, “We believe such competitions are crucial in preparing young minds for the real-world challenges of the hospitality industry. It not only adds value to their academic journey but also enhances their career prospects.”
