Marriott International has achieved a significant global milestone with the opening of its 10,000th property worldwide, marking a major achievement ahead of the company’s 100th anniversary. The milestone hotel is the JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa in Rajasthan, reinforcing India’s growing importance within Marriott’s global expansion strategy.
Located in Sawai Madhopur, adjacent to the renowned Ranthambore National Park, the luxury resort becomes the 11th JW Marriott property in India. The destination is known for its wildlife experiences, particularly Bengal tiger sightings, as well as the historic Ranthambore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Commenting on the milestone, Anthony Capuano, President and CEO, Marriott International, said, “Marriott was founded 99 years ago as a nine-seat root beer stand, and today has grown into a global portfolio of 10,000 properties across 146 countries and territories.”
The resort features 127 rooms and villas, designed to offer a luxury wilderness experience. Guests can choose from multiple dining venues serving contemporary Indian cuisine, regional specialties, and botanical-inspired culinary offerings.
The opening highlights Marriott’s continued focus on India as a strategic growth market. The company has an active development pipeline in the country, with upcoming luxury openings including The Ritz-Carlton Mumbai and The St. Regis New Delhi, both expected to debut in 2027.
Globally, Marriott’s luxury portfolio now includes approximately 700 hotels across 74 countries, spanning seven luxury brands. The JW Marriott brand alone has expanded to more than 130 properties worldwide, reflecting growing demand for premium hospitality experiences.
The launch of JW Marriott Ranthambore also underscores the increasing popularity of wildlife, experiential, and destination-led travel in India, as luxury hotel brands continue to expand into emerging leisure markets beyond major metropolitan cities.
