Boutique hotel group Onora Hospitality is set to convert the ancestral home of Hidesign founder Dilip Kapur into a luxury heritage resort under its Bookmark Resorts brand. The upcoming Bookmark Resort Puducherry—slated to open in the last quarter of 2026—will be the group’s third property after Manali and Ranthambore.
The restored Tamil-Franco bungalow, located opposite the Aurobindo Ashram and the iconic Golconde Building, will retain its colonial charm through a sensitive restoration led by an Auroville-based Egyptian architect, in collaboration with conservation firm Heritage Matters.
“The Hidesign family has deep roots in Puducherry and Auroville. Their legacy brings a unique authenticity to this project,” said Ashish Vohra, Founder & CEO, Onora Hospitality. “Bookmark Resort Puducherry is a key milestone in our South India expansion and will redefine luxury hospitality in the region.”
The boutique resort will blend heritage, wellness, and local culture, offering a peaceful escape in the heart of the historic town. With a focus on well-being, the hotel aims to offer an immersive experience rooted in Puducherry’s spiritual, colonial, and Tamil heritage.
