SAMHI Hotels Limited, one of India’s leading branded hotel ownership and asset management platforms, has received formal confirmation from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) granting an extension to the development timeline for its marquee hotel project in Navi Mumbai. The approval paves the way for SAMHI to begin developing a landmark dual-branded hotel comprising around 700 rooms near the Navi Mumbai International Airport and DY Patil Stadium, with Phase 1 development planned for approximately 400 rooms.
Proposed to be operated under the Westin (Upper Upscale) and Fairfield by Marriott (Upper Mid-scale) brands, subject to definitive agreements, the property will be SAMHI’s largest hotel asset by number of rooms. The project underscores the company’s strategy of scaling up with high-quality, demand-accretive assets in key gateway markets.
Located along the Mumbai–Pune Expressway and in close proximity to the Navi Mumbai International Airport, DY Patil Stadium and the Atal Setu Trans-Harbour Link, the project will benefit from strong infrastructure connectivity and rising commercial activity in the region. The MIDC extension provides development certainty and aligns the construction schedule with Navi Mumbai’s broader economic and infrastructural expansion.
The dual-branded configuration will allow SAMHI to address a wide spectrum of demand drivers, including aviation, corporate, MICE, sports, entertainment and leisure segments, optimizing both occupancy and average room rate potential.
Ashish Jakhanwala, Chairman & Managing Director, SAMHI Hotels Ltd., said, “We are delighted to receive MIDC’s confirmation, which unlocks a transformational opportunity for SAMHI in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This development will be a marquee addition to our portfolio, with a complementary dual-branded hotel under the Westin and Fairfield by Marriott brands. By prioritizing Phase 1 at approximately 400 rooms, we can bring high-quality capacity to market sooner, align with infrastructure timelines, and scale efficiently to the full 700 rooms thereafter. As our single largest hotel by rooms, it meaningfully advances our scale and strengthens our presence in a critical gateway market. With this, SAMHI has now covered all key office markets across India.”
